#2 and #3 in the list are going to be good for me.

I have seen #3 come up quite a lot. Once you get over a certain number of pics in a folder, it takes forever to open that folder. This is with a Core i7-920 running at 4.2Ghz with 12GB of DDR3-2000 RAM and a Western Digital Black 500GB hard drive. Absolutely no reason why it should be that slow to open.

This new update is AWESOME. It was taking 3-4 minutes to open a folder with 299 RAW files in it. Now it opens up almost instantly.

They are not wrong.

DCU 4.33 now does a VERY good job of processing noise in high (>1600) ISO images. Congrats to the Silkypix team.

Play with the 'Multi-level noise reduction' slider in particular to see how well DCU4.33's noise reduction can work.

No. Not yet.

Not that tethering matters to me. The main thing for me is it's capabilities as a RAW processor.

Updates

I notice that there are two updates available:

Firmware version 1.11

Utility 4.33 Update

Are these two updates different? Should I download both?

thanks for reading my post.

Firmware v1.11 is the updated firmware for your camera - it it runs on your K-5. Follow the installation instructions carefully and your K-5 will be updated and your camera will have the new features and improvements v1.11 offers.

The Pentax Digital Camera Utility v 4.33 is software that runs on your PC to help you view, edit, process your JPG and RAW images once they come out of the camera. It updates the version of PDCU that came on a CDROM in the box with your camera.

By all means download and install both. But don't get the installation procedure mixed up

Tethering would make me happy for product photography and studio portraits.
