Need advice to create slide show for dvd player

Hi I need to creat a slide show of images to be played on a dvd player and shown on a television screen.
I normally use lightroom's pdf slide show for pc viewing but a dvd player obviously does not recognise that format.
Any suggetsions for a easy to use simple [hopefully free] programe / app or whatever you want to call it?

[edit] it would be great if it also created cover lables as well

If you use Windows 7, you can do this with Windows Live Movie Maker (free download from Microsoft)

I think you can also do it with Picasa (free from Google)

I have actually had pretty good luck with the free Windows Live Movie Maker. It gives you all the control you need plus some pretty cool effects including music. You can save for web or DVD.

I am on xp so i guess I will have to try picassa I long since took that of my pc's so it's down load again, pity as it's resource hungry and has a nasty habit of trying to take over image editing and sorting by default.

I've used Nero to create slide shows and burn them to CD and DVD. There are other similar products to be found.

Many DVD player support jpegs! Also have slideshow provision built-in.

Put jpegs on a CD or DVD, in folders if you want. When inserted into player, menu shows with selection list of folders & files, option for slideshow. Try it!

Windows movie maker is built into XP, the only problem is xp doesn't burn dvds, you need something stand alone. Like cdburnerxp.

I've used it before when I ran XP. It does a decent job and you can download creative fun pack from Microsoft.

Also this site gives you tutorials on using Windows Movie Maker. Atomic Learning.
