None of the papers I've read about demosaicing algorithms (AHD, etc.) mentioned integrated noise reduction.
however Pentax is using NR on the raw data @ high ISO, so that can be as well done not by camera's firmware but off camera and before demosaicing then... and we really do not know 100% if any commercial raw converters are trying that.

Bibble is allegedly implementing NR on raw data (before demosaicing) in the next release, as I recall dcraw and Raw Therapee (I think I saw it in one of the developer versions) also have this option.

Write a poem in French then have 5 different translators write an English version. Some of them wouldn't even be recognizable as the same poem! It's the same with RAW processors. Each renders a different version. Sometimes the difference is small, sometimes very distinct.

They don't take the RAW data and make the perfect image from it. They translate the data. Even versions 4 and 5 of ACR output noticeably different renderings. I like Raw Therapee for handling noise, though it's so much easier to use ACR or Lightroom. For maintaining the best detail you can look at Capture One. I used to use it before ACR got updated. I think Capture One still does a slightly better job, but it isn't as easy to use and very pricey. Though, if I were doing high-end pro work, I be all over it
