Chrome darker than Firefox & Safari

I'm using Google Chrome under Mac OS 10.6.7. Recently, I noticed that pictures in Chrome look darker compared to same images in Firefox or Safari. It is very obvious when I look at shades of an image - in Chrome there are less details and tonalities. Does anybody know the reason of this?

Safari and Firefox are color-profile aware. Apparently Chrome has screwy color management.

Exactly. And the photo will look different again on Internet Explorer. Don't worry about it though. 99% of people don't calibrate their monitors and you would be amazed at the odd color casts, contrast settings and brightness they consider normal. Basically, if it's on the web, your photo will look awful in lots of monitors. Grin and bear it.

I don't worry about what people will see looking at my pictures (because I'm aware of all these circumstances). What embarrasses me is that Chrome is my favourite browser, and I'd like to see what I've seen in a graphical editor.

What do you like about Chrome? I like chrome as well and have been using primarily, but recently I've switched back to Firefox (to be able to use a particular plugin that only exists for firefox) and now I find myself preferring it over chrome (although I'm not sure why!).

Chrome has screwy colors, Opera sometimes has screwy text issues. Fact is most web pages are optimized for IE and those of us who prefer alternate browsers are sometimes screwed. I like FF and Opera myself, but sometimes I still end up using IE just to be able to see a page render properly.

It's hard to believe but Chrome now supports ICC profiles v2! Here is the proof-link.

I seem these days to use several on my Mac, Chrome for quick and dirty fast responses.

Safari for all the book marked stuff and Opera just for this forum.

Don't ask me to explain or justify any of this.
