Calendar printing

I've a request to supply some pictures to a calendar for publishing, requesting jpegs of 2 megabytes via email.
I'm using Photoshop Elements 9 and processing the raw image. My question is, to reduce the picture to 2 megabytes do I reduce the resolution or do I leave the resolution at 300 and reduce the size of the picture. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.
thanks David

Ask them what image size and DPI they want, Size your images to that.
From there you will need to negotiate (if necessary) with them the jpeg quality that does not cross the 2MB threshold.
Just giving you a spec of 2MB seems a little scant of specification IMHO.

Image size is measured in pixels, not megabytes.
So, one could have (for example) an image that is 1500x2100 pixels, or an image that is 5x7 inches at 300ppi.
Both would be the same sized image.

OTOH, file sizes are measured in megabytes not pixels, and through the magic of jpeg compression, almost any image file, no matter what size can be made into a 2mb file.
