When shooting in RAW which i do explicitly i like to shoot in manual to keep the exposure the same for several photos.
What you've done now on one photo i do in the same time for 8 up to 16 photos or more if i'm lucky.

My normal workflow is.
- Whitebalance
- exposure correction (includes contrast and colours also)
- B&W if i do that
- framing and image cleaning
- sharpening and noise

The exposure tweaking take up the most time but all can be done within a minute with a normal photo.
