Fotki.com has problems with EXIF data. Any ideas?

I post a lot of my photos to fotki.com and their system has problems interpreting the Pentax EXIF data from in-camera JPGs. This was true with my K20D, and the same with the K-5.

For example, if you look at the EXIF data for this photo:

Photo: KLH 2087 | Meet 21Jan12 album | Kevin Haehl

it shows the ISO as "21", but the actual EXIF in every other program I use shows ISO 3200.

In addition, fotki.com also intermittently misreads the rotation setting and the focal length (but sometimes it is right).

This does not appear to be a problem with PEF files that I have developed into JPGs using RawTherapee.

Has anyone else seen or heard of this with Pentax JPGs? Is there anything unusual with how Pentax writes the EXIF data? I have had a trouble ticket in with fotki.com since December 2009, but they are obviously stumped or unable to help.

The obvious question that comes to me - does it do the same with your jpegs posted to other photo viewing sites other than fotki? Perhaps try setting up a free Flickr account and posting one there.

Good thought. I uploaded the same JPG to flickr and it shows the EXIF data correctly.

Sorry, but the problem is still there. Has the fix been implemented?

Hi klh,

part of this fix was implemented. Now if you will upload NEW file - you will see normal ISO.

That fix old images, will take a little more time: 1-2 days.

Just for the record in case anyone is considering them, the ISO and auto-rotation is still incorrect on my K20D and K-5 photos uploaded to Fotki.

My original customer service request (# 51432)was dated December 19, 2009.

Fotki has more problems than just with EXIF! After the last stunt they pulled (suddenly and without warning cutting off access to uploaded fullsize images) I wouldn't recommend them to anyone who is serious about photography. I still have stuff there and I sometimes use them when I need a direct link to share screenshots etc. but none of my good stuff goes there anymore, ever again!

Whatever they do or promise is worth absolutely nothing anymore.
