Looking for a reputable source for custom mats

Pretty much like the title says. Any suggestions?

I bought a mat cutter, about $100 and a few mats , now we just clear off the kitchen table and get to work. That was our solution. It's not as hard as you might think, if you have reasonable math skills, the mat cutter mean you don't even need a steady hand.

I've had good results with MatShop.ca - MatShop.com in the USA.

I don't do enough to justify the expense of a cutter for myself. MatShop looked good, but I'd need to order 5 to get a custom sized mat.

Hi

I am with normhead, do it yourself, nothing to it.

Expense ? What expense. I bought a little LOGAN hand cutter many years ago for $40.00 (and they are not much more now). I have done hundreds of mats with it, no problem. All you need is a sturdy straight edge, a steel ruler and some cardboard to cut on. Don't use those green plastic cutting pads as the blade cannot penetrate it when cutting.

Don't forget a commercial framer will need to charge you to make a profit, this profit margin will buy you the cutter. And once you have the cutter you may be getting into this a bit more and do more framing in future. For a photographer it is a good investment. (I do my own framing as well.)

Greetings

Thanks for the suggestions. I found an Amazon seller that can get me the size I need (28x22) for $13 shipped. Even going with a cheap cutter myself, I'd need to do at least 5 of them to break even, an I honestly don't see that ever happening, at least in any type of reasonable time frame.
