Any word if this will include a free upgrade to Lightroom 4 when it's released?

Are you kidding? Adobe has never offered free updates to the next version.

That said, Lightroom 3 is well worth it, especially at this price. I've played with the beta of v.4 and there is nothing in it that I can see so far that will make me want to upgrade. I admit to not spending much time with it yet.

Excellent deal, better than the price for educational users. If you don't have it and have even thought about it this is a solid chance to use LR3 full version.

It is far more likely that Adobe is trying to entice new users into the Lightroom world at the end of LR3's life cycle, hoping that they will henceforth follow the upgrade path, which is, after all, the path of least resistance.

Why not just download and use LR4 beta for free? You have to buy an upgrade to LR4 either way right?

At 7:48 PM on the 14th (U.S. west coast time) that deal is not on the web site. Bummer.

Because of this:

Did you think yesterday's $79.95 Adboe Lightroom deal was a steal? Well, B&H has responded with a $69.95 Lightroom deal, which ends today 2/15, at 11:50pm EST. Get it while it's hot! (quoted from the Pentax Forum main page)

Would it be a good idea to still get Lightroom for classifying my thousands of photos while I presently use Photoshop CS5 , or would it be an overkill/useless ?

Thanks!

I've just saw that it is excellent for photo management but I also could not open the links under "Photo Management" .
That's OK, I know what it can do now.

And the price is right. Got it for fun.

Edit: Canceled order tonight as I decided to master (hah!) my existing Elements instead. I watched a couple tutorials on LR and did not see anything I really wanted to do.

I just placed the order which is ... back order !
It will ship when available though.

Hopefully, this will be the solution to my ever growing mess of thousands of pictures which need serious classifying.

You can install the 30-day trial that's available online from adobe.com, then when your order comes, just plug the serial number into the software and register the copy.

No reinstall necessary.
