Defining Pentax-Specific Tags in Exiftool

Has anyone defined names for Pentax-specific tags in Exiftool?
If I want to see if a picture was shot with FineSharpness, I can use the -v option on the command line, and then search the output for 0x0070, But, what I would really like to do is use -FineSharpness on the command line, like with the more common tags.
I tried adding the following to .ExifTool_config:
%Image::ExifTool::UserDefined = (
# All EXIF tags are added to the Main table, and WriteGroup is used to
# specify where the tag is written (default is ExifIFD if not specified):
'Image::ExifTool::Exif::Main' => {
0x0070 => {
Name => 'FineSharpness',
Writeable => 'int8u[n]',
WriteGroup => 'IFD0',
},
# add more user-defined EXIF tags here...
},
)
;
But - this does not seem to work. Does anyone have suggestions?

Which camera and which version of Exiftool? I just tried it on mine (K-x, exiftool version 8.63), and FineSharpness shows up just fine. I've never tried messing with the config file before, but it looks like FineSharpness is in the MakerNotePentax subdirectory, so wouldn't that be 'Image::ExifTool::Exif::MakerNotePentax' ? Or maybe not... looking at the Pentax.pm file it appears to use 'Image::Exiftool::Pentax::Main'--perhaps that would work? Sorry I'm not much help, but I'm not familiar with Perl.

Hi Steve,

I also have a K-x, and I have tried two versions (was using 8.56, just downloaded 8.79).

But - I just changed from 'Image::ExifTool::Exif::Main' => { to 'Image::Exiftool::Pentax::Main' => { , and now it works. Thank you very much.

Glad to hear it works! I didn't even realize it was possible to customize Exiftool, so I learned something as well.
