I tried the lr4 beta but didn't find a huge reason to upgrade from lr3 for my use.
Is there a compelling reason for others to make the switch?

We're in mud season and I'm not taking a lot of pictures so my beta copy isn't getting used much. It's good to see the price down. That's a smart move on Adobes part. Very few people paid the $299 for Lightroom but when the $149 sales prices came along and the $99 offerings to Elements users came along, their sales really took off. Even CS5 is way over priced IMO. I use Elements and Lightroom and can't justify the price since there is nothing I haven't been able to do so far with this combo with my current PP skills.

At the bottom of the "product highlights" on that page is this: "This package is an educational discount that requires proof of current educational status. Click here for the requirements."
I think it's a misprint as there is also a student and teacher addition with the same notice.

BHP charges I think usd60 for delivering the box to oz. this makes the software a lot more costly at $210. Do u know if bhp sells the electronic download version?

Edit: It appears that the cheapest delivery cost from BHP is $32.26 via UPS Worldwide Expedited. So this would make the total cost $149 + $32.26 = USD 181.26 which is AUD 172 or so.

Thanks rawr but I couldnt justify spending 100 bucks more than the US version. Why is Adobe unfairly treating ozzies.

For the same reasons MS, Apple and others do I guess.

The prices are an improvement on what Adobe used to charge for LR, but I am in no rush to upgrade

Just noticed that if you purchase LR from B&H with a camera you will get a $50 discount from LR full version. And I just bought a camera from them last week...
And shipping to Australia only changes by few $ then... I feel like sending the camera back and purchasing it again with copy of LR.

Something to think about for people who are purchasing K-01 or any other camera for that matter. I've checked it with Ricoh GDR, should work with other compacts too.

Okay. A friendly soul informed me that the Lightroom 4 full version purchased from Adobe Australia here, will incur a cost of A$219.09 ex. GST.

And when u select this version and then select "Download" delivery method, the price reduced to A$187 excl. GST.

And if u add this to the cart, u dont have to pay GST (for whatever reasons why GST is omitted I dont know).

So the oz price is A$187 vs USD149. Still some differences but I am glad it is no longer $100. Hope this info is helpful to any ozzies contemplating to buy LR4.

In response to Crewl1:

I installed it yesterday, and other than being a little sluggish at first (it has since sped up considerably) it is a major improvement!

From a Pentax user point of view, the new option to simply click "remove chromatic aberration" in the "Lens Correction" tab gets rid of waaay more (almost all) purple fringing compared to previous versions.

Add to that the fact that you have much finer control of shadow/highlight detail, video editing, and the ability to adjust brightness/contrast on the fly when printing and I would say that adobe has answered my complaints from LR3.

All in all, my pictures just look better coming out of LR4. It's as simple as that.
