Question about SilkyPix as bundled with the Q and K-01

I rather like the SilkyPix UI - for me it has some advantages over LR and I can work with it well enough.
However, SP DS3 doesn't like my K-7 .dng files? I would have thought that PENTAX make certain their latest bundled software would be backwards compatible to early model PENTAX .dng output?

Is there a work-around?

Pentax bundled SilkyPix supports RAW from Q and K01 while PDCU supports RAW from K- cameras. That's what I heard and noticed myself.

So Pentax has 2 different bundled programs, that work completely differently, and you can't use either on all Pentax cameras. THAT IS SO STUPID! I know how to use PDCU, more or less, although I like it less than the old Pentax Photo Lab; but now for my Q I have to learn a whole different interface to develop RAW files? Arrgh.

The Silkypix I have only works with K-30, K-01, and the Q/Q10. My understanding is you can buy the full Silky and it will work with all our cameras. I also find Silkypix easy to use.It is one of my favorites. Some find it difficult and I don't understand why.

Thought the newest Pentax converter/editor, that comes with K5IIS, worked with all Pentax cameras out of the box. Will have to try my DNG cameras to make sure..

There is probably a work around available. An EXIF editor might fool Silkypix into working with other models.
good luck

There was an update to the SilkyPix software available through the Pentax Japan site (Software Downloads : Support & Service | PENTAX RICOH IMAGING).
