It sounds to me like your data could be recovered. It's a simple process that requires removing the drive from the computer and putting it in an external harddrive enclosure ($30-$40) from there you can connect it to another machine to backup your files. Let me know if you want further information.

I'm done with WD. When my desktop's WD harddrive crashed last year, I purchased another WD harddrive - the thing was faulty from the get go. So was the replacement drive. Third time I bought a Seagate.
