crashed hard drive

I would like to thank every one that offered advice on how to recover my photos.i had to put that project on hold due one thing or another. Besides being bummed out by not having the sense to back them up, i had a new hard drive crash and burn due to a power outage.and have to forget about them for the time being. Again thanx everyone . Also sorry for not responding sooner.

If you live an area where your susceptible to this kind of thing...

May I recommend your getting a UPS as well, it gives you time, sort of an insurance policy.

well the funny thing is the power just went off and then came back on after awhile which is common for the area. I have every thing surge protected which is even more common to get a spike every now and then. As my luck would have it the only thing affected was my new 650 gb hard drive. Yes your rite a power supply would be a good idea. Thanx for your input.....

Elmo,

It sounds to me like your data could be recovered. It's a simple process that requires removing the drive from the computer and putting it in an external harddrive enclosure ($30-$40) from there you can connect it to another machine to backup your files. Let me know if you want further information.

By any chance is it a WD hard drive?
I'm done with WD. When my desktop's WD harddrive crashed last year, I purchased another WD harddrive - the thing was faulty from the get go. So was the replacement drive. Third time I bought a Seagate.
