You are using photoshop 6 now from 2000, i'm pretty sure that CS2 from 2005 is much more up to date

It downloads and works just fine (CS2). I just did it.

I have LR, PS6, Elements and the whole NIK suite. Why oh why do I need another program.

You don't, you throw away PS6 and update it for free to CS2 which might solve your exif problems.
If it don't you at least you get, camera raw support (shoot dng), 16bit and 32bit layers and files, real time histogram, lens correction, HDR, healing brush, spot healing, red eye tool, image warp, smart sharpening and more things that you will probably never use but at least the ones named are quite handy for photography.

So if it fixs your exif problem you can work like this.
lghtroom > right click "edit in photoshop" > photoshop > resize > use nik sharpen > save for web (jpeg)

Actually when you're in photoshop you can use all nik tools and blend them together to taste with layers.
Like you say with lightroom you constantly need to export to nik but that isn't the case when useing nik in photoshop.
