I don't think this has any thing to do with your negatives. It's a "Film Simulation software" where it makes your digital photos look like film photos.

Fun to play around with, but I'm disappointed it doesn't open DNG files. So much for a "common archival standard"!

As a plug-in to Lightroom, Elements or Photoshop, and an extension to DxO Optics Pro, it will open anything they will, including DNG's.

Also the stand-alone version opens TIFF's and JPG's, so it's not too hard to integrate it into your DNG workflow.

Normally in using this kind of tool, I would open my original DNG first, do basic corrections (WB, exposure, clarity, noise reduction, sharpening, optical corrections etc) in my RAW processor, then fiddle about with filters and such on an exported version or virtual copy of the DNG original in TIFF or JPG format (depending on how much I cared about the quality of the image).

Yes, I know what film simulation software is, having done digital imaging professionally for over 20 years. I simply made an ironic comment about what truly authentic film simulation software might do. "Random insertion of dog hairs" might be one filter. Another could be the "oops, the cap popped off the bulk loaded film cassette" filter. Those are things I encountered while scanning old films yesterday. And so on.

I noticed that too. It's particularly strange when DxO Optics Pro itself is about the same file size, and DOP is a full RAW processor.

But compared to Lightroom's 800MB...

I didn't mean that as an affront to your knowledge, I just thought you didn't understand what the software was for. I don't know you personally so when I commented it was because I don't know you personally. I apologize if I offended you.

Now for the real reason I came in here. I got an email from their tech support about my not getting the license key. I told the tech I did finally get the key by going back and using my gmail account. She asked also if I would give her my ISP that didn't work and when I sent her the email to say I did get the key, she thanked me for letting her know that my ISP is blocking their emails. Very nice person. I will probably do more business with them..

It wouldn't allow the lightroom plugin? only the standalone and elements plugin.

That's odd. I wonder if it has to do with how many image editing softwares one has installed.

So after installing DxO Film Pack, in Lightroom, when you right-click on an image in the library, and choose 'Edit In', there's no menu entry for 'DxO Film Pack 3'? It works fine in Lightroom v4.4.

When installing the program, it did not let me pick "Lightroom Plugin" as one of the choices. It automatically gave me "Standalone" and "Elements 11". If I click on the Lightroom one, it keeps going back to having an X.

That's odd that it won't let you. Perhaps an uninstall, restart your computer and reinstall it.

I tried that but didn't make any difference.
I wonder if Lightroom 5.2 is the problem. I don't have Lightroom 4 on my pc anymore. I emailed DXO for an explanation, but have not heard back yet.

They will answer you. I emailed them about not getting the license code and they answered me the next day.
