Free DxO FilmPack 3 Software

DxO in combination with SONY is offering a free license for their FilmPack 3 Essential software. You need to supply your email address and they will email you an activation code.

This is a Film Simulation software that can be used as a plugin or standalone. I haven't used it myself, but I figured at this price I could afford to play around with it and others might too.

I already have DxO Optics Pro, which has a very limited set of film emulations built-in, so it will be fun to play with this.

NB: the Windows version is a 277MB download.

Just installed it - works nicely stand-alone, very easy to use, good set of colour positive and negative films, and B&W. Plugin works fine with Lightroom. Also directly integrates into DxO Optics Pro v8, with lots more control options.

Only negative is that the plugin doesn't work with my older Elements 8, just v9/10/ & 11.

So a very decent freebie.

Almost instantly - check your junk folder in case it ended up there.

I went to the site and submitted a request for support. I guess I'll wait and see if I get an answer.

I did that too rawr, and still haven't gotten a license. I might try one more of my email address, it could be my email client is blocking this before it gets to me.

I had to use another browser and gave them my gmail address and finally got the license and it is now installed. I hate my regular email for this reason. Even going over there an taking filters off, they still block things and then tell me they are not blocking anything.

But all is well now. And I can go play with this software to find out what all the hallabaloo is about.

I wonder how well it simulates dust spots and dog hair. (I've almost finished scanning my black and white negs from 1991, having started with 1971 several years ago but not yet having developed my film from today...)
