Completely new to Lightroom 5 - need some basic help

I shot a bunch in RAW+JPG mode, and saved them to my hard drive. I browsed to the folder in Lightroom 5 (PC version), and only the DNG files show up, as "DNG+JPEG". I want to see the jpeg files as separate files as they exist on my hard drive, so that I can compare the difference between my development and the out-of-camera jpeg. But I cannot seem to find any option that will let me do this. It's really quite maddening. Any ideas for me?

Not at my LR computer but I think there is a setting "treat RAW & jpg files with same name as......." I can look it up after work if you can't find it.

You need to check your general preferences settings and check the box to treat Jpegs next to Raw files separately.
