Need all the advice I can get....thanks

I just started learning how to edit portraits and could use some help. I have paint shop pro x6 and face filter as well as PS elements 10. I've using face filter and paint shop pro to work on this image. I'm trying to remove the blimishes but give a more natural look. On the right is what I have done with it so far. Thank you for any help you can give.

I went the other way and just used on the original image, a content aware healing brush in PS CC on the areas that I thought needed work.

This was a quick 30 sec job, but I feel it has a better look than softening the skin on this lad, what do you think?

Have a look and see if there's a similar tool in the software you have.

I prefer your result. Sometimes people barely recognize themselves with these overdone skin-smoothing tools.

Thank you all for pointing me in the right direction. Working on learning my editing tools. This is much better looking then the over done portrait I was working on.

In Paint Shop Pro terms, this is called the Makeover Tool.
