I guess the question is what Lightroom 6 could offer that Lightroom 5 doesn't. Better cloning/healing? My hope would be faster operation. Feels like there is probably a lot of program bloat beneath the surface of this software that makes it grind awfully slowly, even on a pretty fast processor.

My fear is that Adobe will just move it to a subscription model like everything else. I don't particularly want to pay 10 dollars a year to use Lightroom.

I'm getting it "free" for paying $10 a month for PS CC. In all honesty, I'm not sure I'd pay much for Lightroom since I already have PS. I'm not even that fond of the LR approach, with the catalog, importing, developing, exporting etc.

The cataloging system intertwined with the RAW Processing is what makes LR a fantastic tool.. It is pretty nice if you have a lot of images (I catalog mine by year and then sub by date) you want to archive. The image files are all freely accessible on one's hard drive even after cataloging in LR. And it makes backing up a snap.

The only issue I have with it is, after one gets A LOT of images (tens of thousands) in the catalog, it does seem to slow down a bit. I offload to an external RAID setup for previous years to reduce this issue.

PS is great for manipulation though! I use PSE on the side when I need those features.
