canon pixma pro-100 printer

Is anyone using the canon pixma pro-100 printer? If so, what do you think of it? Or should I buy an Epson? YOUR THOUGHTS?

I got one in a combo with the 70D, but sold it unused to a co-worker. He said he was happy with it. It is pretty well regarded.

Have to say I have no complaints with it, it's never failed me in the year and a half I've had it.

I've had one for 6 months now and I am very impressed by it. I also got it when Canon were offering rebates, so the price was also very good.

Thank you. I will check it out.

I guess I will get one. Have had a couple of Epsons and always had head clogging problems. Probably because I did not use them enough. Gonna give Canon a try this time. Amazon has the $200 rebate. Amazon.com: Canon PIXMA PRO-100 Color Professional Inkjet Photo Printer: Electronics

If you can wait, there should be a better deal sooner or later. I paid $48 in November via Adorama. I saw a deal at Atlex with a net cost of $35 or so, plus large boxes of Canon OEM paper which is very good. The inkset alone is $100, so many people purchased a second or third one. Right now on the Seattle craigslist there are about 5 of 'em going for between $110-200 NIB, so check your local site.
Epson printers are also very good. I'm getting a feeling that printer technology is hitting a plateau similar to the one scanners have been on for many years--new products aren't adding much, so a bargain now will provide good performance for a relatively long time.

It's a good printer. It also supports AirPrint if you use iOS devices. I use it when I want prints that come out quickly and look good with little fuss. The Canon Color matching and color profiles are pretty good with Canon paper, and the paper can frequently be found on sale - including direct from Canon. Photo Paper Plus Semi-gloss is my favorite overall, although I like some of their other papers too - such as Pro Platinum.

My two Epson Pro printers are larger, and are a little better overall - but not enough better unless I want to spend more time and/or need the economy of cheaper ink on a large batch.

IMO the Canon inks are often just as good as the Epson's when printing on RC papers - like the papers I mentioned above. If you're printing on Art papers, then the Epson inks are generally better suited. But in general you don't want to bother with an Epson below about the R3000 or 3880 level (I have the latter) - in fact even the R3000 can be a bit too expensive on ink, IIRC.

No ink but it does have the heads. Can't find it anywhere near that price.

If it doesn't have a warranty, I'd skip it and wait. These things are imperfect enough.

$40? Who needs a warranty for $40? Just make sure the guy is accountable that it works correctly - for example, have him buy the ink and then you'll pay the cost of ink+printer to get it. Or whatever other creative solution you can come up with that will give him some accountability. Perhaps you can just scare him about how you'll be if it doesn't work. Or make him sign a receipt stating that he sold you a working printer with a 30 day warranty from him (OK, I guess that's still some kind of a warranty). But the point isn't really the warranty, it's that he feels pressure to be honest. Probably at some point in the process he'll tip his hand, and you'll know whether it has a problem or not.
