Apparently LR CC is available but there's no stand alone version.

The stand alone version is Lightroom 6. $149 for a perpetual-license. But you can't sync photos to the mobile apps.

You can also get upgrade version going through Adobe's website (Look for Lightroom 6 towards the bottom of the page). It will default to add the full version but you can click on Edit button to change it to upgrade and pay $80 instead of $150.

And for those CC subscribers still waiting to get notified of the upgrade, log out then back into CC. It will then detect the new software.

OMG OMG OMG, fast!
What used to take six+ seconds to load is near instant.
I've gone back to images I haven't looked at for over a year and they still loaded in 0.5 - 2 seconds.

That is how LR5 should have been.
If the entire workflow is this much better, it is worth the upgrade price!

The new update is available. It's been a while since I updated so there was more available for me than just Lightroom CC. First, I needed to update the CC updater software and that failed twice but finally got uploaded and running. I got the Photoshop update done and then the update fail message again when I try to update Bridge or Lightroom. I'll try again tomorrow. I think everybody in the world is trying to update right now.

Thanks for the updates. I debated whether to upgrade 5.7 to 6 or go to CC and went with CC. I don't really need the mobile versions as I'm not as smart as my phone.

I find the HDR portion of Photo Merge to be underwhelming. I'll likely stick to Photomatix for this part. The Pano portion seems adequate to me. I had been using Photoshop for this, so I guess it's not surprising that the results are pretty much the same.

If you're not into the photomerge function, panoramic function, of face recognition, is it still worth the upgrade from LR5 to LR6 just based on the increased speed and performance?

I've done a test panoramic shot with the Lightroom CC 2015, using 10 images, and I'm pretty impressed!

The pano feature AND the HDR feature in LR 6 both suck. Not just a 'well this is underwhelming' suck, I'm talking 'why did they even bother?' levels of suck. Panos bomb out for me half the time (without any helpful explanations as to WHY so I can fix the issue and try again), and the HDRs are just complete garbage compared to what you can get out of anything else*.

I'm kind of glad I have CC and didn't drop $150 thinking I was going to get some kind of robust (or even halfassed) set of features there.

* EDIT: I retried using better files as source images. The HDR's are nice, if you only want one 'flavor' of HDR image. Those who are into the grungy look, or like pushing certain elements over something else will be SOOL, as you literally have ONE option for the HDR processing. I'll probably stick with importing to Photomatix for my HDR needs.
