Soon. We try to release 5.5 before end of the year.

Maybe I'm being dense, but I can't see the attachments on the first post. Where/how can I download these profiles?

Asking @The Squirrel Mafia or anyone else with experience - what's your take on using developmental builds? I played a little with the newlocallab build a month or so ago, but it didn't do what I wanted so I got rid of it. But it didn't crash. Now I'm starting to play around with the build with new shadows/highlights and at first glance it looks much improved. Like the files of my kid in the red shirt above, I got immediately better results with the new shadows tool. I'm thinking about just using this version regularly.

Is there any word on when the next stable release will come out and what it will include? 5.4 was March, correct? I should probably poke around on the RT forums.
Curious, this new shadow/highlight slider works similar to LR/Capture one? This is one of the harder things I had adjusting to RT personally

My experience is that it's more like the Lightroom shadows/highlights sliders and it functions better. I think the 5.4 stable release version is almost unusable, I quickly got weird artifacts when pulling shadows and the highlights function didn't ever do quite what I wanted. Hopefully this makes it into the upcoming 5.5 release.

Yeah, the closest thing to what LR does with shadows is the blacks slider, I can't make the shadows/highlights sliders work without crazy haloes and artefacts.

Unfortunately, the OP found that the thread was so old that he couldn't modify the early messages. Also, unfortunately, this is only knowable by reading the entire thread unless one is lucky at picking a starting point. I think you will find that more recent threads (within this year) include some with updated files.

Attachments - PentaxForums.com

^ That's a link with all the attachments. The last "stable set" was on 2018-06-01. There might be some experimental ones after that.

Another linux first for me: I compiled/installed my own RawTherapee 5.5 yesterday. Went smoothly, launched successfully. Didn't have time to play with it, but should be a nice upgrade just in time for my week with a rented K-1.

^ Excellent. I compile my own versions on Linux & Windows as well. They typically run a bit smoother than the downloaded versions.
