OK that simple, all people here speak of 20" or 40" print and how that important to have fantastic camera to do just that, so here a poll to get an idea of what s really relevant to us.

The largest prints I made are 59 inch on the long side and half that wide. Exellent prints coming out of my K-01.

Sometimes I want high resolution to do post cropping. Especially with unpredictable subjects. Other times I get higher resolution as a side effect from stitching several images to get wider images then my widest angle lens can do. Not very often, but some lucky times, I get fantastic images I want to and do print really large. My local print shop is limited to 1,1 meter wide rolls that I guess is 10+ meters long. My largest print yet is 1,1 x 1,6 meters. The large ones are usually around 1,1 x 0,7 meters. Of course, I print smaller too.

I never print images at home anymore because I hate ink printers (expensive ink ether drying up or getting empty when I need it), and I hate laser printers for their image quality. My home laser printer is only used for documents. I'm building a darkroom though.

I print to just under A2 on a k-3 (it's native size at 300 ppi) often. However smaller sizes sell better. Having a k-1 only buys a print that's a little bigger, and anyway printing at 240 ppi gets a slightly larger print anyway and it is not at all obviously inferior to 300ppi. Even going to 150/180 is quite acceptable in many cases, which makes a very large print from the k-3. All this without any interpolation of the file. What the higher res of the k-1 would give me is the cropping option, but then I frame in camera, so no real advantage there either.

(The advantage in DR of the k-1 is the advantage to me - at least until I see how it actually performs compared with the k-3 at low ISOs)

Foto.com (based in Belgium) produce great looking poster prints for me occasionally, up to 70cmx100cm .... Colours that match my images on screen and very sharp looking at normal view distances. Very happy for the reasonable prices too, even with postage to the UK.

I know very little about image sizing, but I understand these sizes are bigger than the K7's full resolution at 14.4mp .... So I presume that to get these big prints looking good there must be some boosting taking place ... That's called interpolation isn't it? Anyway, it must be a good program they're using.

The largest I have printed is a stretched canvas 36"x165". It was printed on 44" wide canvas and stretched on custom-made stretcher bars. I printed two more of similar size a few years back. I am testing K1 prints on 36" wide paper. An un cropped printed on 36" wide paper will be 36"x54". My goal is to print a K1 at 44" wide media. The dimensions of such print will be 44"x66" which is my target size for my landscape work. I'll find out soon if the K1 is up to the task or not.

I've a printer that does 13" x 19", which doesn't exactly match the options given (I think) though I don't know what photo book / magazine size means in this context. I think it'll take time before I'll pour money for printing large by a third party as it is costly and I don't have as much control as I do when doing it myself.

EDIT: By costly I mean having it printed on a proper paper and proper printer. Not just some thin, glossy poster paper.

8x10" is the largest I've done at home, and I also had a few 8x10"s done at Costco. The result was better from Costco as I have no calibration tools at home (it's on the list though).

I use 11 x 14 inch for medium format because it is the biggest size before the costs go way up

I print a few times per year, but I print large. I do color test prints of a few inches wide and then typically > 30 inches wide needing high resolution files to look good, 16Mpixels looks good at a normal viewing distance, but 24Mpixels looks very good even when looking close.

You dont really have a good option for me to choose. I regularly print 8*10, 8*12, and 11*14. Cost goes way up after that making those prints rare for me.

I print up to 30x45 at times. Maybe about 5 at the most per year. It will either be a canvas print or on Kodak Professional Endura paper. I do about the same in the 24x36 size. There's something neat about having a large print of a photo you took hanging on the wall.

I have a printer at home that can do 13x19 and I print at that size fairy often. More often I will print 11x17 on 13x19 paper, thus leaving a 1 inch border on each side. I'm not sure what I should choose on your poll, nothing quite fits for my situation.

Besides that I can only recall one other time I printed larger but can remember the size. Might have been 24x36.

I like to print pictures as presents and also to fill up a portfolio book. The large prints are very nice to have.
