I know that many find DCU 4/5 slow and archaic, but there is also general agreement, I believe, that DCU delivers very fine results. I have used DCU and its predecessors since 2006 and like the results I get enough to continue to use it. DCU has been pretty stable and functional on my machine. But it would be a nuisance to be forced to have two versions of the program on my PC to be able to process files from Pentax cameras older than the K-5. That should not be necessary, surely.

Well, I found out a few things regarding DCU5 that shouldn't be happening with software shipping with a current camera like the K-1 on windows 10, which is what I'm running.

The pointer lag issue: Run the "troubleshoot compatibility" and running with Windows Vista Service Pack 2 makes the pointer lag go away.
Secondly, once you open the program for the first time, go to Window (on the top toolbar)and hit default or nothing displays.

Hope this helps somebody.

AYD, thanks much for the post about using "troubleshooting compatibility." I believe it has cured the jerky cursor issue for me. I'm not sure exactly what items I selected among the various options given after going to the control panel and troubleshooting, but the issue appears to be resolved.
