dumb question, but the image you edit have all the details of the original raw image similar to PS camera raw?

Sure. It's like any other raw editor. If you mean image quality, there is no difference to others.

The big difference with Photos is control. No batch editing, and it doesn't write changes to metadata—you have to export. It can either manage images by copying them into a hidden folder, or reference them. It's quite lightweight organizationally compared to Lr, Capture One, etc etc but it can do some editing, mostly like what you'd see in iOS. Just sort out the workflow with your other stuff, cuz Photos can be a bit of a pain to use in conjunction with other applications.

No. Photos is extremely simplistic...

If you need layers and fonts you will have to incorporate a third party app like Affinity or Pixelmator into the workflow. Or Photoshop Elements etc. I mention Affinity Photo and Pixelmator because they are Mac programs written for the Mac, not just ports of a program designed for Windows...plus they include Extensions for Photos.
