I'd like to reset file modified stamp to that of picture taken

I'd like to reset "file modified" date and time stamp of files to that of when the picture was taken, in bulk.

Is there any freeware out there to do it? Or does PS CS3 do it somehow?

I can't find anything on my web searches.

If you're using Windows, I think THE Rename will do what you want. It allows you to set the Create, Modified, or Last Access date to a variety of values, including EXIF DateTime, DateTimeDigitized, or DateTimeOriginal.

I think there is an option in Irfanview that will do that.

If you're curious I also found thAT Bulk Rename Utility, which I already use, can do it too. Not obvious how though, it's up in the menu system. It's a great rename utility.

Another great program is attribute changer. It lets you change all the file and folder attributes - hidden, system, protected, dates, etc, and lets you recurse thru folders as well. Find it here.

Introduction - Bulk Rename Utility

I second bru - I used it to format all my image filenames the way I currently use. I had it recurse all the files in 3 years of folders and rename the files by date taken in the format yyyy-mm-dd-ssss (ssss=4 digit serial number per date). Took about 15 seconds. BAM! Great program!
