Cant find deleted file

Has anyone used a program called Showfoto for metadata info ?
I installed it yesterday. Looks pretty good but I struck a problem.
I wanted to remove a photo from the main view so I right clicked on the photo to see if it had a context menu and yes it does. No remove or close but there is delete. I tried that hoping it would just remove the photo but it actually deleted it from the directory. The astounding thing is that it's not showing up in the recycle bin.
Now it appears as though I've lost that photo altogether.
Do you know a solution ?

Yes, use a photo recovery software on your card.

photorec worked well for me when I accidentally formatted the wrong card slot. Not pretty, but free and powerful.

I'm running showfoto in Linux Mint. When I right-click a photo in main view, there is no "delete" option in the context window, only "move to trash" (along with rotate, crop, etc). . Moving to trash would be the equivalent of recycle bin in Windows. I've never used the Windows version, but it sounds like the photo was actually deleted. I think there are file recovery tools for Windows desktop computers - just avoid emptying your recycle bin just in case. Good luck.
