Raspberry Pi Pixel for Mac and PC

Raspberry Pi’s Pixel for PC and Mac breathes new life into old computers | TechCrunch

It will run on pretty much any Mac or PC with at least 512 MB of RAM and an X86 processor...

I'm going to throw it on a USB stick and see what it's like...

Maybe I'll try it on a VM.

Well so far I haven't gotten this to work under Oracle's VirtualBoxVM. After the Debian splash screen the screen goes blank and just hangs. There's a new update to Virtualbox that I'm downloading now. My DOS 6.22 VM with Quarterdeck's QEMM386 stopped working too. Somewhere between VirtualBox 5.0.8 and 5.1.0 something has changed so QEMM hangs after the memory scan.

I used Etcher to write it to a USB stick and my old Mac mini won't recognize it.

But VirtualBox booted it right up once I pointed it to the .iso. (5.0.30 r112061 on Mac OS X 10.11.6)

Ok, I downgraded to 5.0.3 - now my DOS 6.22 with QEMM is working again. I had to delete the Rasberry VM and create a new one but it boots up now from the ISO.

If it ain't broke don't fix it.
