DXO NR Prime?

Giving DXO OpticsPro 11 a trial run. Have not been able to use the Prime NR on export and is one of the reasons for trying DXO.

Is anyone having the same problem? So far liking this software any thoughts or ideas would be great!

Thanks

Brian

On Export to what? I use version 10 still and find that I have no issues getting exports to JPG or FLICKR.

I use 11, and have no problems. You can only see it on the exported file, unless it isn't letting you select it.

It does show a small preview at the NR tool/ options.

It would seem the Prime functionality is only available in the Elite edition. You might be running the less expensive Essential edition.

See DxO's own discription of the feature differences between the two editions of OpticsPro 11 here:

http://www.dxo.com/us/photography/photo-software/dxo-opticspro/editions

Have used both the 10 and 11 Elite versions and no issues whatsoever when applying Prime denoising on export to harddisk across various file formats, including JPG, DNG, and TIFF.

30 day trial, maybe that's the reason?

Thanks

Far as I know, the trial versions have full functionality - for the said 30 days - to whet people's appetite ...

Prime denoising may also be not available when you edit JPGs rather than PEFs or DNGs (I use the latter as my default RAW format).

Are you editing JPEGs? PRIME is a raw noise reduction engine, as I understand it.

Using DNG as well for Raw format, will give another try. Thanks for the help

Yep, feature list says "(RAW)" after the Prime feature.

I assumed you were editing RAW files but the preceding info is accurate - you can only use prime on a RAW file. I shoot raw plus jpg on the same card often with my K-3 and sometimes start to edit the JPG by mistake and then catch myself. Not sure if this is related.

The trial version does permit Prime NR for raw files but not for jpegs. If a jpeg the HQ (Fast) button is blue while the Prime button is grey and unusable. I suspect you were inadvertently processing a jpeg when you ran into this Prime issue.

I was so sure that I was processing a raw file, but also have been shooting Raw+. Went back and looked and sure enough it was a Jpeg file.

Sorry, got the cart before the horses!

Everyone's help is very much appreciated!

Just an FYI, DxO 9 is still available for free: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/94-pentax-price-watch/335169-dxo-opticspro-9-free.html.
