Hi,

Today, I tried to import some PEF file from my SD card to my computer and all of a sudden the Lightroom 4.4 says "Preview Unavailable for this file"
I had downloaded other PEF file before using same K-3 and had no issues.
Usually I shoot in PEF and copy as DNG when imported.

I didn't change anything since the last time successful imports.
I've tried to purge the cache (edit>preference>file handling) but still can't preview.
I tried to import the file without previewing but a pop up came out and says "This file is not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom."

I check the update in case there is new update but LR says the software is updated.

Please help!

Lightroom 4.4 hasn't been supported in years, there wouldn't be any update...

If you switch to shooting DNG instead of PEF, I think there's a better chance it will work correctly.

Is there a reason you shoot PEF and copy to DNG? Why not shoot DNG right away?

I haven't used my K-3 for a while and forgot which format I used before to be able to download.
Now that you guys mentioned it, maybe it was in DNG. That explains why my current PEF won't work.
Too bad that these PEF file are photos of my newborn baby.
Can I use Adobe DNG Converter to convert it to DNG and will it work with my LR 4.4?

The K-3 didn't exist when Lightroom 4 was released..

The K-3 wasn't supported until Lightroom 5.3 Cameras supported by Camera Raw

Your options are to preconvert with the DNG converter and import into Lightroom, Use DNG directly, or upgrade Lightroom (to 6).
