would someone be interested in making this a nice photo

I took this photo last year on a northern ice fishing trip at roughly midnight. It was such a beautiful night on the lake that we decided to stick it out real late and see if we could have some better luck than we had during the day. I have never seen northern lights dance like they did that night. They changed colors so many times i could barely keep up. Sadly i didnt have a tripod with me so all could do is rest the camera on the box of my atv and hope for the best. I would love someone who has much better skill than i to take a swing at this.

EDITED TO REMOVE FAILED UPLOAD ATTEMPT. PLEASE ACROLL DOWN TO FIND THE CORRECT LINK TO THE RAW IMAGE.

That looks like a JPG file with a .DNG extension. I'd otherwise be happy to take a stab!

Hmmm. It’s a 15gb file so I figured it was the RAW file.

For me it's only 1.7Mb. Maybe I'm clicking in the wrong place?

But the fact that there's a thumbnail suggests that it's not a raw format. Perhaps google converted it?

It's definitely not 15gb, loaded in about 3 sec, my connection is definitely not that good.

I didn't take out the halos/aberrations. If you like where I was going i can work on it some more and upscale it if needed.

Yes, it's a JPEG file with a ".raw" extension Anyway, here's a quick attempt to bring it to life... I'm sure more could be done with the actual RAW file

I don't do a lot of PP but here is an attemptBefore and After. Left the fishing rod in as 1 of the 1000 words.

So is there a better way to share this. It appears I was wrong. This file is 13.5MB. And showing as a RAW file when I look at the original file.

Ok lets try this

Dropbox - IMGP0019.DNG

---------- Post added 02-19-18 at 09:54 AM ----------

Ok i dont understand. Drop box must somewhat modify the file too. The original file is very dark but yet the drop box version is quite bright. Strange

Hi Adam. Thanks for trying to help. I had another look and when i click on the link it brings up the picture, then i click the pic and then up in the top right corner theres 3 little dots that say "more options" Click that and theres the option to download. When i download the file i get a 13MB dng file show up in my download folder.

This looks pretty decent. Were you able to download the full size .dng file?

I Felt Foreground objects were distracting. BTW, when I downloaded from dropbox it was really dark, unlike the preview on the dropbox site.

Heck yeah! That looks pretty good. A little darker would really let those lights pop I think. So you were able to get the full sized RAW file from the drop box link?

Ps. You are right about the foreground objects but I couldn’t get them out of the shot because of where I had the camera sitting on my ATV box. When I edited it myself I cut that part out too but it didn’t turn out as nice as your version.

One of the guys who was there really wants to make a big print of it for his wall so I’m hoping for something that will work for that.

Would something like this work? Just a couple of graduated filters in Lightroom and a bit of quick cloning in Photoshop.
