Finally figured out why darktable would not work on Mac OS 10.13.6.

I had been dragging darktable's ikon into the folder on the dialog box which pops up when you are installing it.

This time I dragged it straight into the Finder's Application Folder and it now runs no problem.

I would but there seems to be no support page and the I find the mailing lists totally confusing.
If you need help with darktable the best way is probably to post in the pixls.us forums. Some of the developers are very active there and there are many knowledgeble non-devs able to help.

Yeah, on occasion there are a few issues when exporting, but haven't seen what you got here. I mainly see on 1st export or multiple exports at one time of one or more photos that I've used the spot removal tool on. It seems really bad lately with latest GIT build of darktable or maybe I'm just noticing it more while I edit our recent beach photos.

In the darkroom I'll use multiple instances of the spot removal tool on a photo and all looks fine, switch to the lighttable and sometimes the thumbnail doesn't update to show all the spot removal tool instances you made. If I go back into the darkroom, then back to lighttable it seems to fix it.

Sometimes on exporting a photo I made one or more spot removal tool adjustments on by itself or in a group of photos will export that photo(s) with one of the spot removal tool instances missing. If I export the same photo again its fine.

So Darktable decided to create art on one of my photos while exporting it.

So I exported again and this time it came out right. No idea what happened!

I just downloaded a 2.4.4 and I'm really a newbie when it comes to post processing. I've only used the silkypix that goes with the camera I purchased. I find darktable a bit difficult to use. I can't find a tool bar to access and try things out. I'm a little lost in this thing. Do tool bars ever exist in this editor? I hope you guys can help. Thanks.

For you it is just typing in the word "darktable" in youtube and then you get tons of explanations and tutorials. Add your google search "darktable tutorial" to that.

See my post here:
The Darktable Users Coterie - PentaxForums.com

Spend some time seeing all the youtube posts advised in the two channels (preference with Darktable open too for testing what you see on the videos) and you will be confident in using Darktable fast.

Best regards,

You will not spend time but, instead, earn a lot (time and much) more, trust me...

As according to Abraham Lincoln:
«Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.»

I can't believe it my laptop froze. I had to close darktable and open it again. And I'm using a core I5 gen 7 with 32 gig memory. It must be windows 10. Hmmm, but darktable is exciting.

So long plans for buying Lightroom 6. Good bye.

Extraordinary goodies to come with the new version 2.6 (around Christmas!) as one can check by the “on development” article at darktable 2.6 | darktable

Note 1 - the expected publication date of the article is “Mon 24 December 2018”, so one can expect the release of this new version of Darktable around that date.

Note 2 – the first release candidate “darktable 2.6.0rc0” is out; more info can be had at [darktable-user] darktable 2.6.0rc0 released.

Best regards,
