More Flickr Frustrations

So lately Flickr has been nagging me to use Chrome or some 'newer' browser. Seems that Internet Exploder 11 just ain't cool anymore.

It finally went into a weird mode yesterday where all I see are my photos, but the sharing and editing tools are gone, and there are no hyperlinks to the next image, etc.

Please don't tell me to try Chrome, or Microsoft Edge. I tried and there is never a link to a version compatible with WIndows 7 Pro, because they want you to move to WinBlows 10.

I'm not moving to 10, 7 is working perfect, thank you. I have better things to spend my money on, like cameras, cars and Mrs. Racer.

I had stayed away from Firefox, as it had started using up huge processor and memory percentages (like 80% or more), and I ultimately had to reinstall the OS and all my software. I've left the fresh installation just past the initial install point, with only having installed the updates needed to get everything operating perfectly.

Frozen in the time where all is good.

So, after the latest problems with Flickr, and browsers, I dud around and found an older version of Firefox on a thumb drive in my desk, and installed it. I am using it only for Flickr, and it appears to be doing that well. It does use about twice the resources that Internet Exploder does, but is it staying on the low side of the range where resource and memory use is concerned.

Flickr has always been weird in my browsers over the years.

You could try alternatives like Vivaldi or Yandex or Brave or even Safari for Windows.

Yep, definitely broken on Windows 7 with IE 11. Looks like you have to update to a supported browser: Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge.

Opera 53.x seems to work. Used to be my favorite browser.

Re. linux: latest builds of Firefox, Chrome and all the other browsers work just fine. And you will find memory management is much better on linux.

Perhaps they all are consequences of it having been recently acquired by Smugmug.
I deleted my profile there, not out of spite or nothing... simply I've never put much time/effort into it... it has become a mess of test charts shots which I uploaded there merely for convenience

No problems with Flickr on Chrome here. I don't get why people don't like Chrome, it's not resource intense and does its job.
But I have a friend who swears by Opera if you want to try that, it's supposed to be one of the leanest ones out there.

(And I agree with pepperberryfarm that Pentax Forums gives more trouble, sometimes pages take forever to load... but right now it seems fine)

Firefox Quantum uses much less CPU. I rarely see it go over 1%. Memory usage can be dialed down by lowered the number of context processes.

No problem with Chrome on my system. I switched when IE11 stopped being supported. Never ever liked Edge. I agree with the load delays on PF.

It is not standards compliant and (at least last time I checked) does not play well with a color managed workflow.

Has IE ever been cool?

I gave up on it 18 years ago. I've been using Safari and Chrome interchangeably for ages. Firefox has been fine too.
