I generally don't use ISO 1600 on the K100D Super because it's too noisy. Here's a shot where I did use it because it was too far away for flash. Pentax- F 35-105/F4-5.6 @ F5.6 & 105mm FL. 1/60s. Raw. WB was set incorrectly to "Flash". In the shots below I've altered the colour temp to 4170K to correct this. No sharpening.
A slightly cropped version of the original processed in Pentax Photo Lab. No NR. Tone Range adjusted to 5-231.
The middle image below has PPL NR applied. Random NR set to 74 and Spurious Colour NR set to 60. In the right image, UFRaw was used as the convertor. A Threshold of 102 was applied for the Wavelet NR. The Exposure was set to +1.14 to match the tone level used in PPL.
Look at the shadow part of the face, the guitar strap and the inside of the forearm.
The PPL with NR image was a bit too strong for the face but I preferred how it handled the other parts of the image.
I did not prefer the UFRaw image processing. It smoothed the edge of the body. It also incorrectly sees the 3008*2008 image as 3040*2024.
If you want to try processing it yourself, you can get the original image here:
