I really like my Asus "Republic of Gamers" laptop. Has a solid state drive for the OS, a 1 TB 7200RPM drive for data, 24 GB's of ram, enough usb3 ports, and other ports. I run PS, LR and Premiere Pro without any problems. My wife likes her Dell Alienware laptop too.
I have the 17" model, but it comes in 15".

Something that has NOT been said. An IPS monitor is a godsend on a laptop you plan to use for photo editing. Even if you have an external monitor for most of the time - the IPS screen on the laptop will be appreciated. Models often are called something very similar but have very different hardware under the covers. Get really picky when looking for the laptop for this. Make sure you get the hardware you want/need: ( SSD's, Memory, Graphics cards, etc. )

Yes, IPS makes a world of difference and so does higher resolution although that is more controversial. Both of the Dell XPS monitors I and others have mentioned have both.

Asus really worth looking into. Bit cheaper but solid machines and their ips screens are high quality

After working with a few Asus consumer laptops I have been frustrated with the way they have arranged the internal components - they are NOT service friendly - taking apart 1/2 the system to add ram for example. But this trend isn't unique to them, I'm more used to enterprise grade laptops where serviceability is very high by comparison.

Not really a comparison. 15 years ago I had Toshiba, bulletproof, now most of them consumer garbage. I also had IBM/Lenovo, now only top price range is worth looking at. HP also deteriorated in mass segment...

First impression.
Really cool, vivid, wide angle screen.
What a damn crappy touch pad.
