New Capture One 11.2 still no K-1ii

It appears they still have not added support for the mark 2.

Given they usually ignore all but the basic features (say pixel shift, tethering), it should be little work to accept a new flavour of the same camera.

This is one good reason never to choose the subscription model - while it is irritating to wait for your camera model to become available, it is even worse if you have also paid for it...

I work with CO and they do not support Pixel Shift for any brand (Olympus, Sony, Pentax etc.) and they have never supported tethering on Pentax camera bodies. As for the K-1II, just use DNG and you should be OK.

Nope. DNG is all i use and it does not recognize the files. See jpgs of course but not DNGs from the K-1ii.

Retraction!!! I just downloaded and installed 11.2 and i opens the DNGs. Sorry. They do not list the K-1ii so I assumed there was not point in getting the new release. Now I have and it loads the dngs. I assume it will process them normally.

The main advantages of the MK2 have to do with JPEG processing with the accelerator chip. I doubt a lot of K-1.2 users are using C1.

Well, I am , now. But you are right about the jpg quality of the K-1ii. But I also like the slightly betteer AF and the handheld PS, although the latter may be something of a placebo. Anyway, I am glad it is now supported, wish they would add pixelshft processing.

I think their reply would be "You're lucky we add any support for our competitors at all"...

Isn't the software division separate from the camera division now?

They seem to present themselves as an all-in-one digital medium format and imaging software company...

Yes, I have seen those ads but I recall hearing that they had separated hardware and software companies. Maybe not. It is great software.

OK - thanks.

Since CO could preview the PEF file; but refused to import it, I assumed it was deliberately blocked. I will try DNG. Will this use the K1 profile or a generic one?

I do not have a K-1 so I can not tell you. On my K-3II is uses the K-3 generic profile.

I was one of the first buyers when the K-1 was introduced in germany. Of course C1P didn’t have a dedicated K-1 generic profile. But using the DNG format I could post process my raw captures. C1P simply used the Adobe DNG generic profile and I was very happy with the results.

Great - I will try out DNG. Mostly chose PEF originally because the file size was smaller.

Which reminds me: I once was on a photo trip, and there was this Cannon guy spending all evening converting his raws into DNG and then back-annotate with position data from his GPS. I told him to buy a Pentax next time :-)

Whatever camera profile is used per default, you can change it to any other profile available within C1, including those from other cameras. I don't particularly like C1's profile for the K-1, so I use one made for a Sony camera to emulate Fujifilm's digital emulation of their "Provia" film.

Once you found a profile that works for you, you can make it the default camera profile for your camera.

Furthermore, you can tweak any camera profile with the colour editor and then save the result as a new ICC camera profile. In other words, you can create your own colour profiles by tweaking existing ones.

Finally, there are also systematic ways to create accurate camera profiles that aim at colour fidelity. If this seems too involved, then there seems to be a commercial alternative.
