That does look like vips is encountering an error. Do you get any error message or can you reproduce the same error?

Random thoughts: Enough HDD, enough RAM, files aren't removed/renamed/deleted.
No error messages.
Plenty of HDD, over 8 GB free RAM.
For the record, the vips installed is vips-8.6.5-2.fc29.x86_64.
Hopefully I'll get back to exploring this a bit further, but not sure what I hope to find, or where to look.

Cheers,
Terry

Birk - You wrote that pyvips will do its work on the GPU. Does it use opencl for this? Some graphics cards are not strong with opencl. I wonder if that is the roadblock for some?

Just had another try, and same result, but there was a warning right at the start which I missed on the first try,

[terry@localhost Superresolution]$ ./Superresolution.bin
WARNING: yacc table file version is out of date
----- Resizing Images -----
Resizing: IMG50699.tiff
...

Not sure if that is any help in pointing to what is going awry here.

Cheers,
Terry

GPU support is only enabled for hugin, I'm pretty sure libvips is CPU only.

Can you try updating libvips to the latest version? (8.7.0). i.e. not pyvips which is bundled with the bin.

I can't take a trick!
I can find vips 8.7.0, but currently only available in the testing (Fedora 30) repository. Trying to install it leads to a conflict, as it requires Libmagickcore-6.Q16.so.6. and that's not available in Fedora 29 repos.
This can be an (almost) never ending path to misery...each package requires something else, so best I call it a day until the right packages are available in the F29 repo.

Cheers,
Terry

I see, I'll look into it if I can bundle the library with the script as well.
