There’s one more day left to upgrade your Flickr account to Pro status, if you want to take advantage of the 15% discount.

The catch is, for Australian users, that the advertised pre-discount $49USD per annum price becomes $59USD when you go to pay. Quite why this is the case eludes me, as there is no reason given. I assume the same is for other non-USA users. For me, the value is still there, but it’d be nice to know why we’re charged the extra.

With some gnashing of teeth, I decided to upgrade to Pro today. I understand why, and I agree with how and why Flickr’s making the move, but I’ll be honest and say the discount made it easier.

I paid $34,99 for the upgrade, but I did so before November 30 (I believe it was extended afterwards to December 31st, so now a 15% rebate until January 8). Nothing about higher pricing for me. I am in Europe.

I did the same thing after doing the free thing since around 2005 or so.
