Little DCU bug

I have found a little bug in DCU since at least 5 versions.
When exporting vertical (portrait) oriented DNG and PEF to 16bit TIF files, the orientation is always horizontal (landscape) when showing in Windows 7-10.
This is not the case when exporting to jpeg.

I tried with different software, only DCU produces this behaviour :

dt=Darktable
rt=Raw Therapy
o1=OnOne
ts=Topaz Studio
psp2019=Paint Shop Pro 2019

Maybe look directly at exif to see if orientation flag is different in tiffs from dcu than from rhe other tools?

That will not solve the problem

I can't reproduce this bug (DCU 5.8.3, PSP X5, PSP X7).

Please check the following setting in DCU:

File | Save as ...
Or
File | Save as With Image Processing ...
Options | Tab Image rotation | change image rotation / Rotate the image data

It will however reveal if the orientation data is written and if so if there is a difference in what is written. It would give far more data for a bug report.

Or if none is written by dcu but others have a different outcome it would indicate a configuration issue.

Is it a DCU bug or Windows bug since it only seems to affect the thumbnail view in Windows folders? Thumbnail views in several other photo programs appear properly oriented.

FWIW, I seem to remember the same thing happening when I saved as tiff in camera too.

IIRC, JPEG supports an orientation flag, while TIFF does not. EXIF has a orientation tag, but such is descriptive, not prescriptive. How software displays depends on the software and whether it retains display settings for each image in a database or sidecar file.

Ok ! I changed to first then to second option and now it seems to be ok.

When you look with Exiftool at the files, the DCU Tif file has an Orientation tag : Rotate 270° CW when the other have : Horizontal (normal), the imagewidth tag is 7360 and imageheight tag is 4912. The contrary of all other tif files...
The Jpeg doen't seem to be affected because they don't have imagewidth and imageheight tags, only ExifImageWidth and ExifImageHeight.
But now everything seem to be normal after changing the image rotation.

Thank you all for your help ! It was perhaps an old parameter of DCU 4...
