Photo Scanners, help.

I'm thinking of getting a scanner because I have loads of slides and would like to get them on to my computer. The question is which to chose. The two I have been looking at are the Nikon Coolscan V ED and the Epson Perfection V700. Both are about the same price. Does the quality vary much between these two, one is a dedicated film scanner the other a flatbread, is that a HUGE difference or is it negligible?

Have you used either of them? What did you think of the results?

Other opinions or suggestions are also welcome. Thankful for all the help I can get!

For slides get the scanner with highest Dynamic range. Thin slides will pass lots of direct light to the sensor. With low D-range scanners the image will look muddy.

Thanks for the advise, I'll have a special look at that if it's important for slides.
