Print on glass - anyone used it?

Has anyone used print on glass?

What a great idea. Acrylic is also an option, though I don't know the relative merits of the two technologies. I'm interested to hear people's experience.

A friend of mine and fellow Pro Photographer had a booth at a wedding show and invited me along for some "exposure".
He had a 12" x 18" or so glass print and let me tell you.... It was the most incredibly crisp, eye poppingly beautiful print I've ever seen in my life. It literally looked like I was looking out of a window it was so clear, sharp and full of 3d pop.
I'm going to be getting one of my images glass printed as well, I just need to figure out what size and where it's gonna go in my home.

Sounds interesting and I would love to know the results people get. Now my mind is wondering if it is possible to print multiple layers of a scene with different DoFs and transparencies and then stack them together.

After spending a decade without printing, I rediscovered how prints can reveal more of the quality potential out of a good photographs. Clearly, due to the displaying on digital media being effortless and free of charge, we photographers have lost touch with printing, and it's a mistake because prints can reveal much more out of photographs taken with high quality equipment.

I haven't done glass but I did some prints on metal and it turned out great. Make sure you check out Groupon where you can purchase prints on glass/metal for 1/4 the price.

I’ve had two photo’s printed on glass so far and both look great. I will be doing more for sure.

I use Fracture, Fracture | Print your photos, in vivid color, directly on glass..
Give their website a look.

Dye transfer? Aluminum prints are made that way.

I've done glass through Fracture and also metal prints and acrylics through my local guy. They all have a little different look to them. Glass is similar to acrylic but without the depth and doesn't have as much pop to the colors, but it does look nice and is less expensive. White metal really shows the colors and detail. The biggest I've done is a 16x24 white metal. If I have the budget I will do acrylics since they are by far IMO the best of the three, but also the most expensive.

... and also the most easily damaged. Not suited to exteriors either.
