But it is the only software can give you true Pentax color, e.g. Positive Film, Vibrant, Portrait, Bright etc.

It is also the only one can use auto correction data of your lens, which is unique of every lens.
That is inaccurate .Adobe camera Raw has the Pentax profiles for Bright Landscape Natural Portrait and Vibrant.

It also has lens correction profiles for distortion and vignetting. Silkypix DSPro has the lens corrections too, as I am sure other software.

My feeling is that if you are going to process raw files why would you want to stick to the limitations of a profile ? If the profile is all you want ,set the camera to jpeg output !

Hello,

I was wondering what software everyone is using to post process your raw file photos?

Thank you,

Nick
I use Lightroom for 80% of my edits. PS for specialised edits such as adaptive wide angle filter (for real estate photography), the content-aware filter and of course for layers. For HDR merging, I used to use PS but now find Photomatix Pro not only better but much, much faster than Photoshop.

Forumite TheSquirrelMafia has also created profiles for RawTherapee that emulate the Pentax scene modes (Bright, Natural, Portrait etc) and has made them available alongside some other profiles for noise reduction at different ISOs.

Here's the RawTherapee thread he created, it keeps going on strong: The Squirrel Mafia's new & improved RawTherapee thread! - PentaxForums.com

And best of all, RawTherapee is free and its latest updates have made the software perform rather nicely, at least on my not-so-state-of-the-art computer.

For me it's:

Digikam for DAM
darktable for raw development
hugin for panoramas
rawtherapee for the occasional pixel-shift image

I don't really do much in the way of pixel-editing, but GIMP is sufficient for my needs there.

I use DxO Photolab 4, and with DxO Film Pack 5 and DxO View Point 3.
I used LR and PDCU until I get DxO Photolab 4.

PDCU 5 : Nice color but too slow for running software.
LR : Good manage the photos, easy to use. But subscribe is too expensive.

Has anyone tried Paintshop Pro 2021? The noise removal and other functions are said to be upgraded with "AI" algorithms... (AI being a buzz word I guess!) - noise removal was an issue before, I have PSP 2018 and the noise removal isn't very good. The Perfectly Clear noise removal from Aftershot Pro (also Corel) is very good, I'm not sure why they never implemented the Perfectly Clear stuff into PSP as well.

I am a software collector, if there is such a thing. I use Lightroom to start. Migrate to Photoshop as needed. Will send the photo thru Luminar 4 for final finishing. Then sharpen and denoise in Topaz AI.
Nothing like keeping it simple!!!

I am the same. Now, instead of Digikam, i just use exiftool to import from SDcard into organized folders with renamed files. (If any one wants to know the exiftool command, let me know)

I was amazed that the current version of Bridge (cloud!) is still free. I’ve used it for years, and the current cloud version is definitely free..... I won’t pay Adobe anymore, so using Bridge makes me feel better about the $$$$ spent

Somewhere way back in this thread I'm sure I mentioned I'm a RawTherapee devotee, and I use Linux. But there are a couple things that RT doesn't do: panoramas and HDR.

I have Hugin which is designed for panoramas and does that well. It can also handle HDR, but my results have always been poor. I've looked around a bit for other Linux tools but was always disappointed.

Then this weekend I did another search and stumbled upon the fact that Photomatix has a Linux version now. A friend at work uses that frequently and really likes it under Windoes, so I downloaded the trial version. Much better HDR results much easier than Hugin or any other tool I've used under Linux. It's fast on my machine. Lots of canned presets for different HDR looks from realistic to over-the-top. Overall it is at least comparable to the tools I used in Windows years ago. And it was only $36, instead of more than twice that for the Win/Mac versions (I think it is missing some features from those builds, but it does exactly what I need). So all good, I think I finally have all the photography functions I used to have under Windows.

Did you get the Elite version of PL4 with DeepPRIME NR? Supposed to be amazing, I need to download the trial.
