I personally have yet to try any denoising plugins. I wonder which one would be able to keep most detail for astro photography? I think I tried the built in tools (PS/LR), but they ate many stars)

I just installed the new ON1 Photo RAW 2022 this morning. It has NoNoise baked in. I was waiting for this, as I prefer not to send back-and-forth to plugins.

The NoNoise panel is in the Develop module, not in Effects. It is very effective in killing noise and simultaneously sharpening. So far I'm impressed.

One of my first applications: shot at ISO5000, f/5.6, 1/1250 on the K3iii with the DFA 150-450 in dull light (a Bell Miner).

This was an ISO 8000 pic from the K-3 III, 55-300 PLM 1/500s f6.3 @ 300

Default settings with a little extra sharpening

I came late to digital photography. On top of that I'm what you would call technologically challenged. Probably the biggest reason I started using ON1 Photo Raw a couple of years ago. I gave the free trial a go and found it easy for me to use. But I still use only a fraction of what it has to offer. I'm very happy with my ON1 Photo RAW / Pentax gear combination. Here's a recent shot edited in ON1 Photo RAW 2022 using NoNoise. ISO only 500 but image cropped quite heavily. First is the final photo. Next is SOOC.
