Picasa is pretty versatile, and Irfanview is kind of like a "Swiss Army knife," with lots of plug-ins and tools. Two of the better freebies, IMO.

honestly there are all these wizzkids at photoshop, illustrator, premiere etc. they didn't get good by buying the software. and in the end, if these people will end up using the software professionally, it only benefits adobe.

Put it in your Plugins folder in Photoshop.
If you don't have Photoshop, download software that supports Photoshop plugins (I highly strongly greatly recommend XNView), and copy the Virtual Photographer plugin in XNView's plugin folder. You can then open a picture with XNView and press Ctrl+G, select the Virtual Photographer plugin and enjoy.

Hugin: This is a software related to Enfuse but is good for putting panoramas together. It is the best program I've ever used for panoramas although it isn't the most user friendly (although recent releases are getting much better).

i have been looking reciently at hot pixel removal add ins. I will post the results when I find one that works well on jpegs, so far, not totally sold (no pun intenred) on the freeware version one I have tried, it seems to be a noise reduction routine as opposed to a real mapping of hit pixels

I also have EXIF viiewer, and GeoSetter which work very well

Tux Paint?? The web site shows this as a drawing program for schools and children. What do you use it for?

Strange and demented projects, with the help of Paint.net. I must post some samples some time.

I know it's been mentioned before in this thread, but I really like Digikam.
