Yea, I dont get why they dont release an sdk, they dont have to take time to support it, just release it with some half decent documentation and others will do the rest. isnt that a win win situation

How did I miss this thread?

Guess I'll have to download it tonight.

(Too bad it's not in the Ubuntu repositories, otherwise I'd just d/l it remotely!)

i think there should be some sticky thread in the sutdio and accessories forum (or similar), with links to software, both open, free, and proprietary.

there are deb packages, but i think the devs want a bit more time before including a version in the mainstream repositories, they still think of it as "in development" (though it is as usable as the original software, as far as i can tell, save some minor bugs)

How about Mac and Linux sub-sub-forums within this one? Then all the Windoze users wouldn't have to read these communist open source threads!

Stumbled into this thread and...

My question is about a maemo port? I have a nokia n800 I am itching to tether to my pentax cameras... Complete with touch screen control? Wow that would be something.

Ciao.

This is the first I've heard of Maemo; looks like an interesting project. I wonder how much work and gui redesign would go into porting pkremote to it?

not much, by the look of it. it might be a rather small leap.

Maemo Platform - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

metroeloise: if you are capabale and willing to help, try to contact the developers, see if they are interested, and what you could do to help them with that if they are.

Just noting that when I tried setting my Samsung GX-10 to "impossible values" (i.e. 14 MP), the camera wouldn't let me change that setting again. (pkremote crashed, but the actual camera menu won't let me change the value, also adding some weirdness to the menu screen.) I had to reset the whole camera setup to get the menu back to normal.

It might be a good idea to watch for the brand and model of camera and let the user set options accordingly?

Sincerely, Ketil

Hi!

I use a K10D with an ubuntu 9.04 64bit PC. I just dowloaded the svn version of pkremote and made it.
I run the pkremote and I'm getting the following error on my console:
pslr.c:272:ipslr_status_full(p, &p->status) failed: 4

I've google that with almost all possible ways and I found nothing.
If anyone has any clue...
Thanks.

I re-updated the firmware with the latest one. Now Everything works under sudo command but this is a local (pc) problem.
Thank you very much for this nice utility.

pkremote says "no camera connected"

Please help me... I'm a absolute beginner.

That's my configuration:
Ubuntu 9.04
pkremote_0.1.svn20090227-1_i386.deb
Pentax K20D

I do as follows:
install pkremote_0.1.svn20090227-1_i386.deb by double click.
plug the camera and switch it on.
run pkremote.

Nothing happens... I've tried some of your suggestions:
cat /sys/class/scsi_generic/*/device/vendor
ATA
TSSTcorp
PENTAX

cat /sys/class/scsi_generic/*/device/model
ST9320320AS
CDDVDW TS-L633A
DSC_K20D

I've tried to edit pentax.rules and to replace "DIGITAL_CAMERA" by "DSC_K20D", after that I've restarted udev: sudo /etc/init.d/udev restart, with same result.

What sould I do?

Thanks
