Thanks for bringing it to everyone's attention, again. Enfuse and Tufuse are indeed very powerful and amazing things can result from using them. (emphasis on can result, not will result YMMV)

Remark: Enfuse is Open Source while Tufuse is commercial software. Tufuse will do autobracketing based on one RAW file (with the help of DCRAW code) and will even play ball under Wine in Linux. Enfuse can be compiled natively on just about any platform.

Unfortunately, it wouldn't work. The noise would be in exactly the same places in both copies, and Enfuse works by "averaging out" noise which is in random places in each unique shot.

On the plus, side, if you only want to add more detail to a single raw shot, you can process it with 2 or 3 exposure settings (like 0, -2ev, +2ev) and Enfuse them together to get a bit more range from the raw and still keep it natural. But this won't really affect the noise amounts at all (again, because the noise will be in the same place in each shot).

The K-7 has exposure blending built in?

Another interesting development for Pentaxians:

Adorama Learning Center - The Pentax K-7: The era of in-camera High Dynamic Range Imaging has arrived!

Related to what Jack has written, I've looked at the results and examined some technical aspects of the new camera, and it seems that the K-7 is actually doing a form of "exposure fusion" in the camera itself when it says "HDR capture." In other words, it is not writing out an HDR file and tonemapping it, it is combining three raw exposures using the same or similar technology as Enfuse (most likely)!

Very cool!
