Is there any software that does this ..?

Is there any software (especially free software) that can scan your computer photo collection and find or sort photos by camera make/model or lens make/model?
I guess to do this it needs to read the exif information.

In Windows, view the files in any folder, and right click on the header bar "Name / Date / etc." Choose "More..." at the bottom of the list, and there's a huge list of options including what you were asking for. To do so with all the files on your hard drive, just search for all *.jpg, *.pef, etc.

Code4Code5 - thank you ... I see what you mean and it can search by camera model but not by lens (unless I've missed something?)

I use Amok Exif sorter to fetch and sort my images from my memory cards- It allows you to use all Exif fields to construct folders and files. A structure like this would be easy:
Pentax ->55mm->F8->2009_01

The way that I've found around that is sorting by focal length. Of course, that won't work so well if you have multiple lenses that cover the same range, but it works for me (with only three lenses).
