Installing Wavelet Denoise plugin for GIMP under Linux

After finally finding all necessary the stuff, I can't seem to install the plugin. It's been a while since I had to do this kind of stuff on Linux, so I could've made a mistake.

I just unpacked the file, got a directory out of it, and while in there I do "sudo make" in a terminal. It gives me

QuoteQuote:
make -C po
make[1]: Entering directory `~/Pr/WaveletDenoise/wavelet-denoise-0.3.1/po'
msgfmt -c -v -o de.mo de.po
make[1]: msgfmt: Command not found
make[1]: *** [de] Error 127
make[1]: Leaving directory `~/Pr/WaveletDenoise/wavelet-denoise-0.3.1/po'
make: *** [po] Error 2
So what now?

Have you install the GIMP dev files?

Looks like you're missing that command, which is part of the gettext package.

A bunch of plug-ins for the Gimp have been batched together. You can install them with:

sudo apt-get install gimp-plugin-registry

in Ubuntu. I would also highly recommend the G'Mic toolbox for GIMP users at:

gmic.sourceforge.net

Yep. that's what I used:

electing previously deselected package gimp-plugin-registry.
Unpacking gimp-plugin-registry (from .../gimp-plugin-registry_0.5.1-4_i386.deb) ...
Setting up gimp-plugin-registry (0.5.1-4) ...
Selecting previously deselected package libgimp2.0-dev.
Unpacking libgimp2.0-dev (from .../libgimp2.0-dev_2.4.5-1ubuntu2_i386.deb) ...
Setting up libgimp2.0-dev (2.4.5-1ubuntu2) ...

Thanks for that

Isn't open source just wonderful, and I really enjoy overlapping with other *nix users on non-computing forums as you all have such great links to apps that I would miss otherwise.

Cheers, bob.

oh... by the way, it is great to see thread titles now containing 'Linux'.
I look at those ones first and would encourage the practice ( at least until there is a dedicated sub-forum attn mods)
