Looks pretty exciting! I hadn't been aware of this effort, and always wondered why there wasn't a decent open source photo management tool. Looks like this will offer far more than the GIMP in terms of management/organization, and could potentially be completely adequate for that purpose. But it looks like the basic use model for RAW is still the old-fashioned "make your changes then convert to another file format" rather than the more modern model where the application automatically remembers your settings and shows your processed RAW file at all times (ie, the model used by ACR, Lightroom, Aperture, ACDSee Pro, etc).

It does look interesting, much more so than when I checked it out a year ago when I was toying with the idea of using linux but the MS powers with Lightroom were much too strong.
