Where to buy Lightroom?

I'm looking at buying Lightroom 2 but the Australian price seems ridiculously high $609 compare with $399 in US. What is the cheapest (legal) way to purchase this program?
Also, can any recommend a good book on Photoshop Elements 6?

Do you have a connection with a student or school? Adobe (at least in the US) has a nice academic discount for their programs.

I have thought about that approach, my sister is currently doing graphic design. She has no need as she has CS4 at her work. How does the student license work? Is it 12 months at a time? I assume it requires continued student status.

Student/Education licenses generally mean that you cannot use the software for commercial purposes. There are no ongoing license costs until a new major version which requires everyone to pay to update.

Student Editions are the same as commercial with no restrictions on use and one need not continue to be a student.

On the other question, I would recommend the Scott Kelby books on Elements. His writing style is lively and sometimes humorous. His methodology is more than just recipe instructions.

Well the full version of Lightroom Version 3 will be released soon.
However to my understanding there is no upgrade for existing LR Version 2 users. Something to consider.
